Cathie Pilkington new Monoprint series at RBE.

Earlier this year Cathie Pilkington spent time working on the offset press at RBE to create a series of multilayered mono-prints exploring her interest in the print medium and an ongoing fascination with Equine forms. She has been working on a new body of sculpture for her solo exhibition at Karsten Schubert Gallery called “Weird Horses”. The mono-prints were created over several sessions and Cathie used a range of methods to create them with particular emphasis on transparent and opaque ink layering and hand-cut paper stencils. We selected large sheets of Japanese Bunkoshi paper for the job and found the process absorbing, surprising - at times nerve-wracking, often exhilarating.

Cathie will be working in the studio again over the summer on the new litho stones that I am thrilled to finally have available for use.

“Weird Horses” - Karsten Schubert Gallery until May 28th.
